Daniella Quintero – Active Play Coordinator – Holy Child School

I am an enthusiastic learner that strives to inspire a passion for learning in children. I believe that freedom of expression is crucial for children to obtain through diverse creative mediums in order to foster healthy, competent, and functioning adults in society. There are many innovative and imaginative ways children express themselves. What I have observed throughout my experiences with working with children is that play is the most important element in a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. This has transformed the way I interact and perceive children. I believe that when given the right tools and guidance, children can thrive in an environment that supports their imagination. As a result, I am an advocate for children’s right to play, as it is the best way children learn. My role is to not only be a caregiver, but to also empower and strengthen children’s concept of self-respect.

Besides running around with children, I am working on getting my Bachelor’s of Arts degree, with the hope of continuing on to become an elementary school teacher. My other interests include: yoga, ballet, and make-up artistry. I was a closet poet, but now I have learned the value of sharing fearlessly. Some of my poetry works are published, and children have become a constant flow of inspiration, and gratitude.

Recently I completed my educational Assistant program at Columbia College, fully enjoying the studies of child development, child Psychology, diverse learning disabilities, and behaviors that challenges, allowing me to fine tune my abilities to help children reach their full academic potential and overall life success.

I am a true believer that children are extraordinarily precious members of a society;
they are exquisitely alert, sensitive and conscious of their surroundings; and they are
extraordinarily vulnerable. I consider giving them profound respect and affection to which they are unconditionally entitled part of what I do daily.

We as adults, need to be their light and trustful guidance in their first steps in this world. I am very excited to be part of this family to bring love, growth and success to their lives through play and laughter.

Chelsey MacLellan – Lead Regional Manager – Prince of Wales, Evergreen, Holy Child, St. Philip F.A. & Summer Camp Programs

The first 12 years of a child’s life are foundational in creating the morals, values and self esteem they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Providing a safe creative and nurturing environment for children to explore, create and discover who they are and who they long to become has always been my passion. We are all a hidden treasure longing to be known and every child deserves to be seen that way and be appreciated and loved for exactly who they are. It is my life mission to allow exactly that.

I began my journey with children working youth summer camps where I learned a foundational relationship to learning through play, community and nature. I then continued in an integrative environment for children with special needs where again a foundation of community and play was deeply rooted to the progress of each child and the community. Having a background in Montessori teaching where children are encouraged to learn through natural play and self exploration, the deep need and importance of leadership and self ignition became paramount for a child to truly understand and treasure who they are. After a foundation of learning with younger children I came to love the passion and creativity school age children have. The way they allow themselves to truly explore and allow their inner selves to blossom. I am proud to say I have committed the last 8 years to working with school age children and excited to continue my journey with the children and families at TOPP KIDS.

Shamiza Mohamed – Regional Manager – Copperfield, Maple Ridge, Coventry Hills Programs

Starting off on the road of Early Childhood Education just over 12 years ago, Shamiza completed the Early Learning and Child Care Program at Mount Royal University. Beginning her work first with children between the ages of 2 and 5, she then expanded her horizons to working with children between the ages of 6 and 12. Building relationships, learning from them and fostering their growth- this is where she found her passion.

“I am a true believer in giving children a voice. They know exactly what it is that they want, and they even know how to get there! They just need the support!”

Shamiza is definitely looking forward to building strong family bonds at all of her programs!”

Larissa Hough – Accredidation Coordinator

“I believe that the early years are important in the life cycle of brain development and set the base for competence and coping skills that affect learning, behavior and health throughout life.
It is important to guide young children in developing a strong sense of self-worth, self-image, value and belonging. My philosophy is based on the knowledge that young children learn by playing and that their play reflects their continuous emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth.
I believe that children feel best about themselves when enabled to exercise their independence. Wherever possible, I allow children to complete tasks on their own. My most important goal is to have each child develop a positive self-image, and an interest and joy in learning.”
With experience owning and operating her own day home and her education in Early Learning and Childhood Development, Larissa was the perfect fit as our newest Program Coordinator in the TOPP KIDS family!
