Philosophy statements are more than statements in staff and family handbooks. Personal and program philosophies are interrelated to a Code of Ethics and influence programming strategies, environmental designs and ways in which children experience, engage in and connect with the array of play and learning opportunities in early learning programs. This interactive workshop examines how program and staff philosophies become living documents in practice and how they relate to reflective practice. Core elements of effective program philosophies will be examined and how to use them in practice will be explored. Guidelines for updating philosophies will be highlighted.
