Our Program
OPP KIDS Out Of School Club at McKenzie Lake School is a joyful, quirky, and adventure-filled club where fun, nature, and family connection come together. Known for our big energy and even bigger smiles, this program is a place where kids can be themselves, try new things, and celebrate what makes them unique.
Guided by our PLAY, GROW, LAUGH & LEARN philosophy, our programming is emergent and child-led, shaped by children’s interests, curiosity, and sense of fun. One day might include forest exploration and outdoor learning in the on-site woods, while another could end with a legendary glow-in-the-dark dance party—and that balance is exactly what makes McKenzie Lake special.
Nature plays a big role in our program. The forest becomes a classroom where children explore, imagine, observe, and connect with the natural world—building curiosity, creativity, resilience, and respect for the environment through hands-on experiences.
Family is at the heart of our community. We value strong partnerships with families and believe that when children feel connected to home and school, they thrive. Open communication, shared celebrations, and a welcoming atmosphere help make our program feel like an extension of family.
Leadership and confidence are nurtured through our Jr. Leader Program, where children help plan activities, support peers, and step into leadership roles in ways that feel fun, empowering, and meaningful.
Active play, movement, and laughter are woven throughout each day, supporting physical literacy, emotional well-being, and joyful connection in alignment with Alberta’s Active Afterschool guidelines.
At McKenzie Lake, TOPP KIDS is a place where kids explore, light up the dance floor, and head home happy, confident, and connected.
